Community Corner

2011 Johnston Relay for Life

Join the Johnston Relay for Life teams at Johnston Memorial Park today and tomorrow as they walk to support the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.  The event begins at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 3rd and runs through the evening until 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 4th.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is an opportunity for communities all across the country to "celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease."

At Relay events,  "teams" of participants "camp-out" at a local high school, park or athletic area and take turns walking or running around a path or track.  Each team is required to have a member on the track at all times during the event.  "Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length."
