Johnston Student Wins Geography Bee

Miko Berja of Johnston, a seventh-grade student at Dayspring Christian Academy of Attleboro, recently placed first overall in the 2014 Eastern Massachusetts/Rhode Island District Geography Bee sponsored by the Association of Christian Schools International in Lowell, Mass.

Berja was one of 10 DCA students who competed in the day-long event for students in grades 5 through 8 representing ACSI-affiliated schools in Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Three other DCA students finished among the Top 10, with eighth-grader Anneka Ignatius concluding third overall.

According to DCA faculty advisor Emily Gallo, Berja was the lone contestant at any grade level to earn a “superior” ribbon in the preliminary phases of the competition.
