Dayspring Christian Academy to Stage 'A Christmas Carol'

Students in grades 3 through 8 at Dayspring Christian Academy will stage the school’s annual Christmas play Friday, Dec. 13, starting at 7 p.m. at the adjacent South Attleboro Assembly of God Church located on Route 1A in Attleboro.

According to faculty member Meegan Delvental (who is directing the production), students will stage the holiday classic, “A Christmas Carol,” based on the book written by Charles Dickens in 1843. The 90-minute production at DCA will feature a cast of 35 students performing the play in its traditional fashion replete with period costumes and numerous scenes and sets.

“A Christmas Carol” focuses on the bitter and miserly existence of Ebenezer Scrooge, who is transformed spiritually and emotionally after being visited on Christmas Eve by four ghosts, all of whom expose his pitiful life for what it is. The play explores the themes of selfishness, humiliation and poverty ultimately converted to redemption, joy and prosperity through Scrooge’s transitory experiences.
