Strong Winds Predicted For Monday Afternoon

Strong winds could cause power outages this afternoon.

Batten down the hatches: strong winds are on the horizon for Monday afternoon in southern New England.

The National Weather Service (NWS) out of Taunton has issued a wind advisory from 2 to 8 p.m. for Monday, Oct. 7. Winds are expected to jump to 15 to 25 mph this afternoon with gusts up to 45 mph. The advisory affects most of southern New England – though the south coast will likely see less of an impact.

The strongest winds are predicted for mid to late afternoon, though stronger gusts are possible in the early evening as a cold front is expected to hit the region.

Weather officials are warning that these strong winds could down branches or small trees. Subsequently, power outages may be possible. Driving may be difficult at times, especially those in high profile vehicles.
