charged Bryan Barrera, 21, of 34 Woodside Rd., Providence, with one count of driving while intoxicated, BAC unknown, and one count of refusing to submit to a Breathalyzer test after an officer reported that he watched Barrerra's car hit the metal gates outside the former location of FM Global on Atwood Avenue.

Sgt. Dennis Peacock reported that he was on patrol at 3:45 am on Apr. 8 and stopped at the red light at Atwood Avenue and Old Atwood Avenue when a gold 1999 Toyota approached from the opposite direction and suddenly turned into the entrance of 1301 Atwood Ave.

After he asked Barrera, who was not injured, where he had been before driving on Atwood Avenue and whether he had been drinking, Peacock reported that Berrera replied: "Dropping my girl off, and why?"

Peacock also wrote in his report that when he asked Barrera to get out of the car, Barrera "had to grab the roof of the vehicle to hold himself up."

After transporting Barrera to police headquarters, Peacock reported, he asked Barrera to submit to a chemical test. Barrerra refused, according to the police report.

Barrera is scheduled to appear in Third District Court, Warwick, for arraignment on Apr. 18, according to online court records.
