WPRI: Johnston Police Make Arrest in Samurai Sword Attack
Police arrested Michael Gomes, 24, on Thursday night, the television station reported.
Johnston Police have made an arrest following an apparent sword attack on Aug. 4, WPRI.com reported this morning.
Officers charged Michael Gomes, 24, of 39 Oaklawn Ave., Cranston, with felony assault with a dangerous weapon after he apparently fled the scene of the attack last Saturday night.
David S. Teague, the victim, recently told NBC10 that he felt he was attacked because of his sexual orientation.
According to Johnston Police reports, Teague identified Gomes as his assailant.
At his arraignment, Gomes was ordered held on $20,000 surety bail until a scheduled court hearing today, WPRI reported.
