Here's your guide to the races that will be decided by today's vote.
Nearly all voters are aware that it's a Presidential election year — and in an effort to inform local voters of the other [so-called "down-ticket"] races on the ballot, here's the run-down of who's running for what — and information on the town referenda items.
Polls are open until 8 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Town Council, Ward 2:
Melvin Steppo Jr. (I)
Anthony Verardo (D)
Town Councilman Ernest Pitochelli declined to run for reelection this year.
Town Council, Ward 4:
Incumbent Council President Robert V. Russo (D) is challenged by Robert Matteo (R)
Johnston Referenda Items:
Question 8: Term Limits for Mayor
Question 9: Road Repair Bonds
Question 10: Open Space Bonds
RI House, Dist. 43:

Karin Gorman (I)
RI House, Dist. 44
James Archer (R)
Gregory Costantino (D)
Costantino defeated incumbent Rep. Peter Petrarca in the September primary.
RI Senate, Dist. 22
Stephen Archambault (D)
Richard Poirier (R)
Senate Dist. 22 was recently expanded to include part of Johnston; Sen. John Tossoni declined to run for reelection.
Incumbent Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D) is challenged by Barry Hinckley (R).
RI House, Dist. 2
Incumbent Rep. James Langevin (D) faces two other opponents, Michael Riley (R) and Abel Collins (I).
