With a fast-break lay-up, Johnston High School senior Ryan Anderson achieved a feat on Feb 14 that only six other players in the school's history can claim: He went over the 1,000-point mark for his high school career.
After taking a pass just beyond mid-court with about 1:30 left in the first half, Anderson drove decisively to the hoop and finger-rolled his shot off the backboard to secure points 1,000 and 1,001, taking a foul on the way.
Anderson followed up his achievement by sinking the free throw, giving the Panthers a 35-18 lead.
