RIHS Football Poll – Week 3
The Johnston High School Panthers advanced another spot in the weekly poll after their 37-6 win last Friday.
Following another victory where they held their opponents to six points, Johnston High School's varsity football squad moved up another spot, to number 6 in the latest Rhode Island High School Football Media Poll.
The Panthers defeated Mt. Hope, 37-6, at home, and are next scheduled to play tomorrow at noon on the road at Toll Gate High School in Warwick.
Johnston remains undefeated at 4-0 overall, good for first in Division II-A, on the strength of a 147-12 point differential over their opponents.
La Salle remains at No. 1 in the poll, after taking care of Tolman, 42-20.
The three teams after LaSalle – Hendricken, Cranston East and Portsmouth – also remain the same. Westerly and Johnston moved up to No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, after Barrington lost 41-18 to East.

The Rhode Island Sports Media football poll is voted on by 13 local media members who regularly cover Rhode Island high school football. The poll is administrated and compiled by Eric Rueb of Southern Rhode Island Newspapers.

It wasn’t an especially tough week to vote for, given the loss by Barrington and most of the other teams holding serve.
The two last selections – Moses Brown and North Kingstown – were really more because of a lack of better options than anything else at this point. Both teams have losses, but also, at least one decent win, so it was either vote for them in the final two spots, or teams that had beat up on really poor programs instead.
