St. Rocco Holds Its Eighth Grade Graduation
Principal Lorraine Moschella celebrated her first graduation Mass and ceremony, while Pastor Charles Zanoni presided over his last, as his order will be leaving St. Rocco Church.
Principal Lorraine Moschella explained 44 students received their eighth grade diplomas, of which 33 started their education at St. Rocco in either preschool or kindergarten.
The Monday night ceremony was Moschella's first graduation as she led the procession to the church along with assistant principal Alfred Monaco, eighth grade teachers Mrs. Judith Carroccio, Mrs. Kerrie Crins-Driscoll, Student Council President Alisha Ciunci, Student Council Vice President Anthony Lanni, and the graduating students as music teacher and organist Cecelia Rodi's choir sang the entrance song "Canticle of the Sun."
Graduating student Michael Vescera read the first graudation liturgy reading.
St. Rocco Pastor Rev. Charles J. Zanoni, C.S., offered the homily and blessings to the students during his sixth and final St. Rocco's graduation liturgy.
The Congregation of Scalabrini Priests order, which has served at St. Rocco since 1903, will be leaving the local church as of July 1.
"Keep St. Rocco's logo shield's three virtues — 'Faith, Hope and Love' — as part of your life, and you will succed strongly in the challenge of the future," said Fr. Zanoni, adding: "You are beautiful soaring eagles, fly high and fullfill your dreams."
The graduates are:
