Newport Creamery in Johnston Demolished
Workers using heavy wrecking machines reduced the former landmark restaurant on Atwood Avenue to a pile of rubble on Tuesday.
Moving one step closer to the construction of a new Stop & Shop gas station on Atwood Avenue, workers from Dixon Inc. of Northborough, MA, completed the demolition of the former Newport Creamery restaurant on Tuesday.
The removal of the building is part of a $1.5 million project by Carpionato Associates of Johnston, and follows the June 30 closing of the restaurant.
Attached to this article is a 1-minute video of the demolition set to a hard rock soundtrack.
