Mrs. Winchell was my first grade teacher at Brown Avenue School. She was a great influence on my life. I always thought of her as my favorite teacher. I remember seeing her about 12 years ago at the art festival. I recognized her right away since in my opinion she had not changed much. I went up to her and asked her if she knew who I was. She immediately said "Of course I do, you're Holly Goodwin - you haven't changed at all!" That floored me since the last time I had seen her previous to that day, was when I was about 9 years old. I was at that time about 42.
I have wonderful memories of her daughter Polly playing guitar for us. She was a wonderful teacher; loving yet she knew how to keep us in line.
My condolences to the family - Holly Goodwin Southworth
