Here's how to add your digital media to JohnstonPatch.

Step 8: See your work!

Once you've successfully added your files to JohnstonPatch, you can click on the article and see your photo or video in the gallery, like this one.

Take a minute or two to review our Terms of Use (the section on digital media is reprinted here). You can find the link to the entire policy at the bottom right of the page.

In order to post a comment, you need to Sign In to JohnstonPatch. You know you're logged in when you see your name next to 'Hi' in the top-right corner of the home page.

On the front page of JohnstonPatch, you'll find our recent articles. If you'd like to add a photo or video, just click on the headline.

At the bottom of each article, just above the Comment box is a link to start the upload process.

You'll see this banner at the top-right of the next window. Click on it to launch the dialogue box (next slide).

Click the green button to locate the digital file you'd like to upload. Note: Photos in .jpg format work best. Video files can be .mov or .m4v format. There's no limit on file size, though we do ask that you limit files to less than 20 MB each.

Welcome to JohnstonPatch101, a series of articles on how to use the site.

In this article, I'll show you how to upload photos and videos to JohnstonPatch, whether it's to take part in a contest like our recent Little Pumpkin Costume Challenge; show local kids playing in a big game, like the Junior Little League World Series; or contribute a photo with your own news story.

Just follow the instructions that accompany each photo in the slideshow.

The first thing you'll need is a profile so you can sign in — here's how to create a Patch profile.

We also strongly suggest that you read our Terms of Use that govern the files and information you share on JohnstonPatch.
