Johnston Man Convicted of Murder
Donald Greenslit is guilty of murdering and dismembering his girfriend in their Johnston home last year.
A Johnston man has been found guilty of murdering his girlfriend in a January, 2012 slaying, the Providence Journal reported.
Donald Greenslit, 53, formerlt of Johnston, was convicted of fatally stabbing the mother of his two children in the January 2012 slaying. Greenslit then dismembered her body and attempted to dispose of it in a basement fireplace while the two children slept upstairs. Firefighters were called to the 16 Pershing Rdoa home when smoke filled the house because the flu was not fully open.
Greenslit initially refused help from firefighters, who ultimately discovered the grisly scene. Members of the Johnston Police Department responded to the scene at about 8:10 p.m. Jan. 22, 2012 in reference to a report of smoke coming from the home.
The two young children were evacuated brought to Hasbro Children’s Hospital to be evaluated for smoke inhalation.
Attorneys for both sides presented their closing arguments Friday and jurors came back with the guilty verdict today. The court scheduled a hearing for March 29 on Greenslit's request for a new trial.
