Starting to think about what to do with the kids this weekend? Check out these entries on the JohnstonPatch Events calendar — and if you have a Patch profile, you can add your own events.

Build and Learn: Lowe's Home Improvement in North Providence is hosting a Build and Grow workshop on Saturday starting at 10 am — it's a great way for your little handyman (or woman) to learn the basics of woodworking and have a nice project to show off. Check out the Lowe's Build & Grow website for more info on this weekend's project.

Healthy Kids: The Cranston YMCA — which runs Camp Massasoit here in Johnston — has scheduled its annual Healthy Kids day for Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. Indoor games, dance, swimming, and more — along with information on living a healthy lifestyle. Free.

Fishing Derby: Johnston Memorial Park is the setting for Sunday's fishing derby for kids from 5 to 13 years of age.

There will be three divisions:

  • Ages 8-10: 8:30 - 10 am
  • Ages 5-7: 10:30 am - noon
  • Ages 11-13: 12:30 - 2 pm

Children younger than 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Registration required for this free event — call the Johnston Parks and Recreation Department at (401) 272-3460.

Walk and Fun Day: The Autism Project, HQ'd right here in Johnston, is holding its Imagine Walk and Family Fun Day on Sunday at 9 am at Goddard Park in East Greenwich. Planned activities include a reptile show, an obstacle course, bounce house, face painting and arts and crafts. The URI Rams football team and the PC Friar men's and women's basketball teams are also scheduled to participate.
