Local Bar a Stop on 'Family Guy' Tour

The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council is hosting a tour of locations parodied in the Fox television show — including the Drunken Clam in Johnston.

 

A Johnston bar is among today's destinations for a 'Family Guy' themed bus tour run by the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council.

The , located at 8 Greenville Ave., is one of about a dozen scheduled stops for the tour, which stops at various locations in Rhode Island that have been parodied in the Fox television show.

And while the local spot doesn't quite match the show's version of "the Clam" — in the program, the Drunken Clam is located on a fairly busy downtown street, while the Johnston version sits next to on the Johnston/Providence line — the fact that a real place shares its namesake with Seth MacFarlane's animated show seems to be draw enough.

[There's also no known history of the ownership turning the bar into an English-themed pub — that happened at over on Hartford Avenue, where Rhode Island Alehouse and, before that, Player's Pub used to be.]

About 30 people purchased tickets for $49 each for today's tour, WPRI.com reported.
