Mayor Joseph Polisena announced this afternoon that Gov. Lincoln Chafee is expected to speak about his recent legislative proposals to ease state mandates on cities and towns.
Gov. Lincoln Chafee is expected to attend tonight's Johnston Town Council meeting to speak about the recent package of bills he submitted to the General Assembly aimed at helping cities and towns, Mayor Joseph Polisena announced in a press release this afternoon.
The council is scheduled to hold a vote in support of Chafee's proposals, which would, among other initiatives, seek to ease state mandates on cities and towns "to help offset the loss of state revenues," according to tonight's agenda.
Tonight's session is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Johnston Municipal Court.
